The debate on torture on suspected terrorists is a debate that has been in the U.S. since 9/11. Although more than 2/3 of Americans agree with torture. This started after President Bush had "enhanced interrogation techniques" on suspected terrorists after he declared the war on terrorism. Many believe that the torture is not justified and is not effective. There are many others who believe the opposite. Many believe that torture is violating the 8th amendment regarding cruel and unusual punishment. There are also some that believe that is the terrorists are not American citizens then the Constitution does not apply to those individuals. My stance on torture is split. I believe that they are most likely giving the correct information but i also believe that if they are as dedicated to a terrorist group to kill themselves they wont give up any information. I believe that there are human rights being violated in torturing people, but if lives will be saved then it is justified.
