The summit meeting in Washington D.C. will be held Thursday, March 31st. With a ton of world leaders meeting in one place, Obama will only be meeting with one leader one on one. That leader is the president of China, Xi Jinping. This meeting is showing that Obama wants to have the relationship between China and the US on good terms. China is the leader in Asia and Obama wants to make sure there will not be anything interfering with that relationship since it is at the lowest it has been in the past 15 years. One major event that will be discussed will be the conflict over the South China Sea. He will also meet with Japan and South Korean leaders. There is a small chance that there will be anything that can be accomplished in this short time, but it will open up the doors to discussion.
With Obama, the President of The United States (POTUS) being the Commander in chief and the Chief Ambassador he has the power to delegate with other countries. the Advice and Consent part of the white house has most likely advised the president to talk to the leader of China. These are all Expressed powers in the constitution for these people to act and try to make relations good again.
